Brisbane Roof Restoration FAQ’s

What is a roof restoration?

A roof restoration is quite different to a roof repair and a roof replacement. When repairing a roof we are usually just fixing a small problem with the roof, such as a broken tile or a roof leak. When we restore your roof, we are restoring it as close as possible to its original state and extending the life of your roof. A roof replacement involves removing the existing roof and replacing it with a new one. Restoring your existing roof is much less costly than replacing your roof.

How much does a roof restoration cost?

Roof restoration companies, like us, charge per square metre, with declining cost based upon the quantity of roof area. For example the cost per square metre is less on a larger roof than on a smaller roof as there are certain fixed costs in any roof restoration project. The height of the roof can also factor into the cost as a safety rail may be required.

When do you need a roof restoration?

A visual inspection of your roof is usually the first step in determining whether you need a roof restoration. The cosmetic look of your roof can provide obvious signs. If it looks like the tiles have lost their colour and it’s looking degraded then it may be time to restore your tired old roof and bring it back to life. Roof bedding holds the tiles in place and if the bedding is cracked or the roof pointing is cracked, left untreated can lead to leaks and a degraded ceiling. See or our recent blog post – 9 signs you need a roof restoration.

How long does a roof restoration last?

You can expect a roof restoration to last at least 10 – 15 years. We provide a 10 year warranty on all of our roof restorations for your peace of mind.

How do you repair and restore a roof?

Our roof restoration process involves the following steps:

  1. Thorough clean – we remove all the dirt, grime and any other contaminants using a Whirlaway at a minimum of 4000 psi
  2. Complete any repairs – we remove and replace broken tiles, rebed the ridge caps, re-point the ridge caps, drill weep holes where required and also valley clipping or sealing (when required)
  3. Complete a quality finish using Roof Protect by Industrial Roof Coatings

How long does a roof restoration take?

Depending upon the size of your roof and the weather conditions at the time of the restoration, your roof restoration may take from 3 – 10 days to complete.
